Celebrate International Women’s Day on 7th March with a walk

Around the world, women walk miles and miles every day, not for pleasure but basic necessities - to collect water, tend fields, go to markets, or get medical assistance.

VSO, the Voluntary Service Organisation, is asking people everywhere to organise a fund raising walk to support women’s health in developing countries. If every walker raised £150, it would make a huge difference to some of the world's poorest, most vulnerable people.

  • £36 could help VSO keep an obstetrician in Indonesia for a week. In that time they’d safely deliver 12 babies.
  • £156 could help VSO keep a child health specialist in Uganda for one month, teaching future doctors and nurses.
  • £312 could help VSO keep a doctor in Malawi for two months, providing crucial treatment to prevent mother-to-child HIV transmission.

Arrange a walk with your friends and family, organise a bigger walk and get your local community involved, or join a walk near you organised by one of VSO’s supporters.

VSO will send you a walks pack, with everything you need to set up your walk and start fundraising. You can register your walk if you are happy to share your details with other people interested in joining it.

Free VSO t-shirt for anyone organising a walk for more than 10 people. Sign up at www.walkforvso.org.uk
