Lee Valley Regional Park

Currently celebrating its 40 th Anniversary, the Lee Valley Regional Park was set up to provide a green space for all Londoners to enjoy. Stretching all the way from Ware in Hertfordshire down to where it meets the Thames at East India Dock Basin, the Park covers 4000 hectares of land in the environs of the River Lee.

It has facilities for many different leisure activities from horse riding to ice skating as well as a wide variety of differing landscapes from heritage sites to nature reserves. The river itself has been used for many different purposes throughout history from transport to flood control as well as providing power for mills along its route. It is now mainly used for pleasure boats, although it is set to play an important role in the 2012 Olympics.
