Hammersmith Riverside

The riverside at Hammersmith is perhaps best known for the historic pubs that can be found beside the Thames here and the vantage point they provide for watching the University Boat Race. The 17th century Dove pub lays claim to the title of oldest pub on the Thames, although it is not the only one to do so, and has had many famous customers such as Ernest Hemingway. The alley that runs past the pub is the last surviving remnant of the riverside village of Hammersmith.

Nearby are the Blue Anchor and Old Ship pubs, which have been in existence since at least 1722, although the building of the Old Ship changed and moved slightly west in the 19th Century.
