Wimbledon Park
Designed in 1764 by the famous landscape gardener Capability Brown, Wimbledon Park is an example of a classic English garden style. It was one of over 170 gardens or parks that Brown is known to have created and, though urban development has eaten away at the edges of the park, the central part of his design still remains.
Further back in time, in the 16th Century, it formed part of the grounds of the earliest Wimbledon Manor House and was used for hawking and deer hunting. It is next door to the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet club, known throughout the world for its yearly Wimbledon tournament.
