Kenley
Kenley was once part of Coulsdon Manor and the area was mostly farmland right up until the mid 19th Century when it slowly become more urbanised. The Common is one of a number of green spaces in the area which come under the care of the City of London. The different habitats support a variety of flora, such as several species of orchid, including the pyramidal orchid which is abundant in certain parts of the site.
The route also runs past the site of Kenley Airfield. Now a glider training school, it was once home to one of London's Battle of Britain fighter stations and is the last one to survive in its WW2 form.
