Brent Reservoir / The Welsh Harp
The Brent Reservoir was created in the 1830s by the damming of the Brent and Silk Stream brooks and was used to supply the Grand Union Canal. It became one of England's top fishing resorts and was a fashionable and popular location for Londoners to have a day out and enjoy the boating.
Today the area is a haven for wildlife, with a huge range of bird species including a nationally significant breeding colony of Great Crested Grebes. It is perhaps more commonly known as the Welsh Harp, named after a pub in the area.
