Walk Routes

There are currently 7 Strategic Routes providing over 692 km (430 miles) - that's a lot of walking !

They're managed to a high standard to provide safe, easily followed routes to interesting and sometimes unusual places ! They are all waymarked, and have leaflets and maps to help you find your way.

* Lea Valley Walk

This 50 mile route follows the towpath of the Lee Navigation and stretches from Luton along country and town paths to Hertford and then southwards through the Lee Valley Regional Park deep into east London.

Capital Ring

A surprisingly green 78 mile route encircling inner London offering a fascinating journey through London's parks, riversides, streets and woodland. Almost two thirds of the route is through green areas and a quarter is beside water.

Jubilee Walkway

This route is a grand tour of many of central London's best-known landmarks and attractions. Relaunched on the occasion of Her Majesty the Queen's Golden Jubilee the 14 mile long route is marked by directional discs set into the pavement and interpretation boards.

Jubilee Greenway

60km of continuous, green and attractive paths linking all 9 central London Olympic venues with some of the capital’s best attractions, heritage, parks, waterways and views.

Thames Path

A splendid and popular National Trail leading from the rural Cotswolds to the capital. The route follows both banks of the Thames most of the way through London providing a total of 67 miles within the Greater London boundary.

London Loop

The London Outer Orbital Path, or LOOP, has been described as 'the M25 for walkers', although it rarely comes anywhere near the motorway. The 150 mile route which is divided into 24 sections offers a fascinating journey around the edge of greater London.

Green Chain Walk

An extensive and intricate network providing many happy days of walking through the dozens of woodlands and open spaces in south east London.
