Description:

This walk takes us through the heart of London’s modern LGBTQ+ community in Soho following the history and struggles of ‘the love that dare not speak its name’ and the challenges individuals have faced to have their gender identity recognised. We will take a look at some raffish and bohemian bars and meeting places from the 1930s; meet an extraordinary French soldier and spy who challenged gender identity in the 18th century; take part in the trial to ban a book about lesbians, and much more in the fight for equality

PRACTICALITIES:

Many opportunities for refreshment and toilet breaks along the route.

Please consider the weather forecast and the type of walk you are planning to join and wear appropriate footwear and clothing. We recommend that you bring a drink as there may not always be opportunities to purchase refreshments.

Advice Note:

Flat and easy route, suitable for both pushchairs and wheelchairs.
